Starting school is a significant milestone, often filled with both excitement and a few nerves for children and parents alike. At Tender Troops Day Nursery, we provide meaningful opportunities that help children become confident, Independent leadersand prepare them for the transition to school. This includes developing communication, early literacy and numeracy skills, social interaction, emotional wellbeing, and self-care.

Inclusive support for every child

At Tender Troops, every child is welcomed, valued, and supported as they are. Alongside our early years care, we provide specialised Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) support — working closely with local authority advisors to assess each child's progress and coordinate early interventions where additional support is needed.

Parent Communication

We are passionate about the link between home and nursery; Our nursery experience is just as much about the parent as it is for the child. We are committed to verbally updating you about your child’s day at pick-up time and also via digital updates on the parent App. We are here at any time should you wish to call us or want to discuss any area of your child’s care. Our aim is to look after our parents as well as our children, so you can carry on with your day, work and career with a sense of peace.

Food & Hygiene

Mealtimes are a cherished part of the day. We sit down together with the children, just like a family would at home. While providing healthy, balanced meals is essential, these moments offer so much more. They’re a time to share stories, build friendships, and nurture emotional connections. These shared experiences also support children’s language development and communication skills, helping them grow in confidence and feel part of a caring community.

Key Carer

Every child has a nursery key person who knows them best and who will be the child and parent’s main contact. Your key person at our nursery will update you about your child’s day and is there to answer your questions. When your child moves to the next age group room, we hold several settling sessions with a new nursery key person. We encourage our parents to view the new room too and we will work with you to discuss the new routines, just like we did when you first started nursery.

Wraparound Care

Our wraparound services provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children before and after the core nursery hours. Whether you need early drop-offs, late pick-ups, or additional care during school holidays, our team is here to help. Children enjoy a variety of fun and enriching activities, healthy snacks, and plenty of opportunities to relax or play with friends all while remaining in the familiar surroundings of our nursery. Our goal is to give you peace of mind, knowing your child is happy, cared for, and thriving no matter what time of day

Graduation & School Readiness Support

Watching our children grow and take their next big step into primary school is a truly special moment for us. We hold an annual graduation ceremony to celebrate our children and our parents with our multi cultural day event. Our promise is to support parents every step of the way for this exciting transition through our dedicated School Readiness Program. This includes engaging school-themed activities, opportunities to meet future teachers, and a joyful graduation ceremony to celebrate their achievements.

Transparent Fees & Funding

We’re committed to offering a clear and straightforward fee structure, making it easier for you to manage your childcare costs. Security & Safety

Your child’s safety is our top priority. Before we even begin delivering the rich and engaging curriculum that defines our nursery, we ensure that every aspect of our environment meets the highest standards. We strictly follow robust policies and procedures in line with Ofsted requirements, building and fire safety regulations, food hygiene standards, and comprehensive staff background checks, including DBS and references.
